We've Forgotten Who the Future Is

(These are my 3 lil favorite people. My 2 nieces (in red) and my lil bit (literally) in white. My lil bit and my niece on the right are the same age believe it or not. LOLOL)

Im sitting back and watching things that are going on in society. Im watching the decline educationally, mentally, physically, and respectfully. I know that last one is not necessarily in the proper verbal context but seriously the youth of today completely lack all these things in themselves. Since when did it become popular to to flunk out of school. Since when did it become popular to have a slew of kids before you even reach age 20. Since when did it become popular to flaunt ALL YOUR EVERYTHINGS out there for the world to see. It just immensely saddens me and having a ton of nieces we as a collective family unit are doing all we can to keep these girls off the pole and the boys from impregnating everything that walks by with a vajj.

My sis and I had to have a very REAL and very RAW conversation with one of my nieces after some information was brought to our attention about some VERY inappropriate behavior. Im known for letting these youngins have it and I surely gave it to her. The conversation (if you can call it that) was not just putting her down but lettting her know the consequences of her actions. Not just the You might get preggers but down to disease, relinquishing her self worth, being labeled THAT GIRL with dudes who know her. Just EVERYthing.

I truly think if more people sat their children down and let them know whats REALLY REAL in these streets some of these teen pregnancies and drug use could be avoided. I know that sometimes no matter how much you give your kids info and help them and arm them with knowledge some of them will just go astray. But hopefully they will return to their teachings from you and get back on track if they do. Sometimes that is just the way that the cookie crumbles. But for the rest of these lil heffas (female and males alike) I think it just boils down to parents not getting in that ASS.

Just like anything else over time, parenting needs to evolve as well. We need to embrace the old skool parenting but at the same time offer a more open line of communication. Allow our kids to come to us with ANY issues they have without going completely HAM and not hearing them out. Letting them talk and get out what they are feeling and offer them SOUND SOLID SOLUTIONS. There are people who wanna constantly bible thump (which is OK, Seriously it is) but at the same time you need to not brow beat them with telling they only need to pray, cause the Lord expects us to have some actions along with our prayers.

In essence what Im saying (cause I think Im rambling at this point) is that we as a nation have failed our youth overall, and the only way to combat the foolery is for folks to stop sitting silent when they see messery and just talk to these kids and guide them like we are supposed to. Trust my kid is being raised old skool, she gets that arse beat when needed, but we also talk some things out and I let her tell me how she is feeling and offer her some solutions to whatever lil issues she may be feeling like she has. Now she is only 3 so her issues arent issues at all, but to her they are major so I never discount her feelings.

This is how she and I roll.

  2. Nice post.

Our children are our future, but these young ladies today aren't young ladies....and they need guidance. They need a helluvalot of guidance.

My daughter is 21 and a senior at The University of South Carolina. I'm proud of her, but I couldn't imagine her having children at this point in her life. She's intelligent and responsible for the most part, but she's not ready to be anyone's mother. So many people start off life with a young parent, a parent that really isn't ready to be a parent.

Sometimes you've gotta HAM......and EGGS on an ass or two.
